The brass hanging back-walled Hanukah lamp consists of a row of dish sockets, a back wall, and a Shamash. A row of dish sockets, arranged in a semi-circle, are attached to curved arms ending in pegs, which are inserted into hinges. Each dish socket and hinge is marked with a letter A through H, to facilitate matching. The back wall is in the form of a crescent, encircling a five-point star. The crescent is decorated in its lower center with a punched vase, from which emerge five flowers. A branch bearing three stylized leaves flanks the vase on each side. A punched rosette pattern decorates the rest of the crescent. A row of punched circles and a waved line frame the back wall. The central star bears five punched rosettes around its center, while smaller rosettes decorate its points. It is framed by the same pattern as the crescent. A hole is in the top of the star for hanging. The Shamash is a dish socket, identical to the others, attached to the back wall in the center of the star. :MED : Metal:MD : 431mm (back):MAT : Brass, ##Structure: cast(cup holders),Copper##Decoration: cut out, punched (back wall)##Bonding: pierced, nails, hinges.::BIB : see also: Steiglitz, 1978, fig.154.
