Jewish Architecture Synagogue in Roermond, The Netherlands

The synagogue in Roermond, situated behind the houses of the Hamstraat, was built in 1953/53 and is located on the site of a former synagogue which can be dated back to 1853. The residence at the Hamstraat was built in 1896 and designed by J. Speetjes.
The facade contains a so-called aedicule containing neoclassical columns and a triangular pediment. Inside the aedicule, the Stone Tablets can be seen, displaying the Hebrew text of Psalm 118:19. Above the pediment, a circular window contains the Star of David.
