Fol. 29v: Heber confessing and the hermit comforting him are depicted in an open landscape between two trees. The hermit, wearing a long garment, is seated with an open book in his lap, his right hand touching Heber’s arm. Heber, dressed as a knight, is kneeling next to the hermit in supplication. The caption above reads: "Image of the hermit explaining his message, and the man repents his sin" (צורת הנזיר מפרש עניינו, והאיש מתנחם מעונו; Loewe 2004, I:229).
The underdrawing in brown ink seen under UV light, shows a change in the composition, posture and dress of the two protagonists (see pencil drawing by Ilona Steimann). The trees on either side hide the discarded figures.
