Fol. 28: The hermit leads Heber by the arm to his house of learning and is about to open its door. Within are five pupils studying with open books in their hands. The house has a gabled entrance gate and a low side wall which reveals the interior. The caption on the preceding page (fol. 27v), which does not refer to the depiction, reads: "Image of the hermit teaching his pupils concisely ‘and giving the sense, making them understand the reading’" (Neh. 8:8; צורת הנזיר שונה לתלמידיו דרך קצרה/ ושם שכל והבין במקרא; Loewe 2004, I:225).
