The torah^case is made of wood and consists of a body and a crown.## The body is cylindrical and covered by purple velvet attached by domed head nails. In the middle of the case the nails form a geometric pattern. It is encircled by a row of silver Paisely plates which are attached by nails and bear geometric patterns. The upper and lower borders are encircled by a nailed zig-zag line The case is closed by two pairs of silver clasps. Two pairs of hinges are in the back of the case. The inner case is covered by white cotton decorated with floral pattern in red, yellow and green.## There are two insert holes for the rods. The stepped dome shaped crown is composed of a main section and an apex. The main section is covered with purple velvet, and nailed in a decorative pattern. The woooden apex has the shape of a Star^of^David. Four wooden rimon mounts are fixed next to the crown on top of the case. The inner face of the crown is covered by a white paper bearing a dedicatory inscription. It is written in an arch-like frame. The dedicatory inscription in the inner face of the crown is written in black outline letters, and reads from the right: וזאת התורה אשר שם משה לפני בני ישראל:###מגן% דוד## תיק זה וסת' ) וספר תורה( שבו הקדישה## אותו האשה שאיה בת שמואל## לעינ! )לעילוי נשמת( בעלה כודאדא בן יוסף נפתר חו אלול ש תשט!ז וזה להצלחת בנה משה## ולרפואת שני בנותיה היו! )ה' יחיהו ויזכהו( אמן Deut. 4:44## followed by: !Star^of^David This case and the Torah inside was donated by## the woman Shaia daugther of Shmuel## for the exaltation of the soul of (int.) her husband Kudada son of Joseph passed away! !on 14 Elul of the year (int.) (5)616 (1856) and for the success of her son Moshe## and for the convalescense of her two daughters, may the Lord sustain them and grant them favour, amen! The dedicatory inscription continues on the left, and reads: תורה צוה לנו משה מורשה קהלת יעקב:## מגן%דוד## וכן תנאי מפורש הרשות## בידיה וביד באי כוחה יכולים# להוציאו ולהכניסו לאיזה בית## הכנסת שירצו, היום חודש## סיון שנת תשכ!ז, ירושלים ת!ו )תבנה ותכונן( Deut. 33:4## followed by !Star^of^David## Today month of ##Sivan year (5)616 (1856), Jerusalem may it be built and established(int.)!
