Who/What is Commemorated?

Victims of the Holocaust (Shoah) and members of the Feuer and Weiss families

Description:

The memorial is located inside the gate of the Satmar Orthodox Cemetery, at the end of a wide paved path, near the first ohel. Three pieces of white marble are joined to make a single inscribed white marble horizontal slab (stele). A short and wide slab is at the top, its width continued by a very small fitted piece. These are tightly set above a single large, inscribed slab. These three joined pieces are set on a slightly wider concrete base and affixed to a cement/aggregate backing. The entire is angled to be more visible to visitors entering the cemetery.

The inscription is divided into four fields of Hebrew, which explain that the cemetery was restored in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. The main donors to the project are named as Menachem Ben Aaron Weiss and his wife Nitza of New York, and other family members
