Description

The monument is located in the New Jewish Cemetery in Zolochiv, where Jewish Holocaust victims were murdered and buried. It consists of a forged metal menorah, standing in front of a tombstone with a rounded top. The tombstone features an image of a bird surrounded by floral elements. Below the image, inscriptions in Hebrew, Ukrainian, and English, dedicated to the Jews of Zolochiv, are carved. The Ukrainian and English inscriptions are identical, while the Hebrew inscription also includes traditional Hebrew formulas. Behind the tombstone, there are seven columns of varying heights.

TranslationFor this our hearts are faint, / young and old lay fallen in the streets, / in memory of the souls of the Zolochov martyrs / who were extremely brutally killed / by villains Nazis, may their names be obliterated, / and part of whom were buried in mass grave / here in this cemetery / May their souls be bound in the bundle of life.

In July 1941, 300 Jews of Zolochiv were murdered in the Jewish cemetery [Tsal Kaplun Foundation].

In 2006, Jewish Holocaust survivors and their descendants from the USA and Israel erected a monument in the New Jewish cemetery in Zolochiv [Yad Vashem].
