  Torah Case (Libya)

The cylinarical wooden Torah^case consists of a body and a coronet.## The cylindrical body is composed of two semi-circular sides and is covered by three rows of silver sheets, framed by silver bands decorated with foliate pattern. Each of the sheets, bears a chased pattern of a central vase with flowers, below an arch, against background of flowers and leavs.## The upper and the lower borders are encircled by a pair of wooden annulets decorated with geometric pattern. Between the upper annulets is a dedicatory inscription engraed on a silver band in squer filled letters, which reads: "זה ספר תורת ה' תמימה לעילוי נפש רוח ונשמה ומזלה אשת רפאל דאבא ישלם ה' פעלו ותהי משכ')משכנו(ש')שלום(" "This book of the perfect law of the Lord, is for the exaltation of the soul (Nefesh) soul (Ruach) and soul (Neshma) and Mazala the wife of Refael Daba God shall render his work and his rest sall be in peace".## Between the lower annulets is a silver band decorated with geometric pattern.## The case is closed with a hooked closure set on a floral base.## Six metal hinges to hang the case wrapper, are attached to the upper annulets.## The inner face is covered with dark-red velvet. The hollow bottom has rectangular hand holders and a silver band decorated with foliate pattern.## The round coronet has an undulating rim and is covered with ten silver sheets decorated with a central cartouche bearing flowers against a foliate pattern background.
