Translation:

The photograph was taken on 28.7.1964 and the card prepared on 7.7.1980, by the late Zusia Efron.

The synagogue existed from 1871.

The photograph shows the Jewish street with the entrance to the synagogue.

Description:

The corner of two Jewish streets in Monastir. Facades of former Jewish artisan’s workshops, today storages and small workshops on no-Jews. Non-Jews live in the Jewish houses. The synagogue is Il Kahak da Bašo. There is no external sign, it is a house like all other houses on the street, Jewish dwelling house of three stories, the entrance and the exterior are not different from other Jewish houses. Probably the entrance door was changed. It seems that the building was erected in the 80s of the previous century (1880s)

Between the buildings, Jewish businesses were build and squeezed: small shops and workshops. Today all of them are of non Jews, because there are no Jews.

? The synagogue Il Kahal da L”H Hevra?

According to Meshulam Yerushalayim.

In Bitola Monastir the non-Jews were making tombstones for Jews. A hakham was writing in black and the non-Jews were carving. [Jews] were sitting in the market and worked as artisans.
