The figure of a young man in the right margin illustrates the adjacent text, מצה זו, "This unleavened bread." He wears tights, a short jacket and a hat with a feather, and holds up a decorated mazah in his right hand. His left hand rests on a sword hanging from his belt. THe figure of a man at the bottom of the right margin illustrates the adjacent text, מרור זה, "This bitter herb." The man is bearded and wears a hat and an elaborate coat. He holds a bunch of maror leaves in his left hand and points to them with the other. A curved sword in an ornamented scabbard hangs from his belt.
