Fol. 1v: On top of the first text column, the initial word for the first book of the former Prophets (Joshua) ויהי [אחרי מות משה] "Now [after the death of Moses]" is written in display script framed by a zigzag rectangular panel.
In the lower margin, the title יהושע "Joshua" written in display-hallowed-letters is illustrated on the left by a standing figure of Joshua drawn in ink, wearing a pointed Jewish hat and a long mantle, carrying a club in his right hand while pointing upwards with his left. His facial features are distorted and his arms, feet and hat filled in black ink by a crude hand (see: Decoration Programm) who also checkered his mantle. Black ink also forming the zigzag frame of the initial word panel. An elaborate palmmette scroll decorates the upper margin
