A rectangular panel beneath the text space encloses a scene illustrating the passage from "Dayeinu," on the facing page, which reads, אלו קרע לנו את הים ולא העבירנו בתוכו בחרבה, "Had He cleft us the sea, And not brought us through it dryshod ..." On the right of the scene, the Israelites cross the Red Sea on dry land led by the pillar of fire. They bear Joseph's coffin on their shoulders. Behind, on the opposite bank of the sea, the Egyptians pursue them on horseback, holding their spears and lances upright. The pillar of cloud hovers between the two groups in the background. Above this panel, a small square panel on the right of the text space encloses the initial letter "Kaf," executed in spared-ground technique. The letter begins the passage, כמה מעלות טובות למקום, "How many are the calls of the Almighty ..." Within the panel behind the letter, a man sits on a stool raising his right hand to his mouth.
