  Torah coronet , Turkey, 1905

© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Radovan, Zev, 1994
The round silver coronet consists of a row of pointed arches. Each one is decorated with a pattern of a central stem with a flower at its top. Scrolls and leaves are radiating from both sides of the stem. Two conch-like flowers are set on both sides of the base of the stem. Between the arches there is a pattern of a leaf. A plaque in a shape of a Star of David is inserted through a band in the inner part of the coronet. The centre of the plaque bears an inscription in square full letters which reads: "מגן דוד##המשתדלים##של ק"ק )קהל קדוש( יאנבול##ש' )שנת( 5665" "Star of David the donations of the holy congregation Yanbol. The year of 5665 [1905]" A bar with holes for the staves is attached across the lower part of the coronet. Each corner of the plaque is decorated with a conch and a floral pattern.
