History/Provenance

According to the Alemannia-judaica website, "At the suggestion of the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation in Heidelberg (the initiator was board member Pastor Herbert Duffner), a memorial stone created by the Osterburken artist Bernhard Reißfelder was unveiled at the former synagogue on November 6, 1983. The Baden state rabbi at the time, Dr. Nathan P. Levinson, spoke from the Jewish side. A few weeks later, the memorial stone was supplemented with a bronze plaque." (for the bronze information plaque see here).
