After being destroyed by a fire, its courtyard served for many years as a kosher poultry slaughterhouse. Later it has been totally abandoned by the Community. Currently, the remains of the building are being taken under protection by a temporary roof, strengthening works of the walls, and clearing the pathways from rubble with the financial support of the Consulate of Germany in Izmir. As in the case of the Hevra (Talmud Torah) Synagogue, the implementation plans of Forasteros are expected to be completed by the end of Summer 2023, with the EU grant obtained by the Jewish Community Foundation of İzmir.
