History/Provenance
In the mid-19th century the private building on via dei Gombruti 9 was acquired by Jews, remodeled as synagogue and opened in 1877. The building soon turned out to be small. It was extended by the architect Attilio Muggia, who completed it in 1928. In 1943 the synagogue was destroyed by a bomb. After WWII it was rebuilt by the architect Guido Muggia, Attilio's son. The new prayer room was opened in 1953.
