Summary and Remarks
History

The first murder of Raseiniai Jews took place on July 29, 1941. On that day, Jewish men were taken from the prison and ghetto to Žieveliškės village, 5 km from Raseiniai. Holes had been dug near the village in the former gravel quarry. The people were undressed, pushed into the holes and shot. On that day 254 Jews and 3 Lithuanian Communists were murdered. On August 5, 1941, 279 Jews were shot (213 men and 66 women). From August 9 to August 16, Jewish women and children were murdered, totaling 298 people (294 women and 4 children).
