Jews of Baisiogala, Dotnuva, Grinkiškis, Gudžiūnai, Krakės, Pociūnėliai, Surviliškis, victims of the Holocaust.

Description:

The site of the massacre is located outside the town, in a field, rectangular in shape, surrounded by trees and enclosed by a segmented fence. In the central part, near the gate, there are three monuments.

The first is a large concrete stele, slightly narrowing at the top, standing on a two-step stepped base. The upper part is rounded. A Star of David is attached to the upper part of the stele. Below it is a black granite slab. The top of the slab features a plant motif and inscriptions in Hebrew and Lithuanian. At the very bottom of the stele, on the right side, there is a small granite slab with an inscription in Lithuanian.

Translation: September 5, 1941. To those who died at the hands of German occupiers

On the small plaque, in Lithuanian:

Palaidota 1125 žmonės
Paminklas pastatytas 1962 m.

Translation: 1,125 people are buried here. The monument was erected in 1962.

History

On September 2, 1941, 1,125 Jews from Krakės, Baisogala, Dotnuva, Grinkiškis, Gudžiūnai and Surviliškis were murdered at Peštinukai village, about 1.5 kilometers from Krakės.

The monument was erected in 1962.
