Who is Commemorated?
The Jews of Hungary, who perished in the Holocaust.

Description:
The monument is located in the Southeastern Alley of the cemetery, along with dozens of other Holocaust memorials built by Landsmannschaft organizations, survivors, and relatives.

The monument consists of a tall concrete pillar, slightly broken at the top, with reliefs of doves.
At the base of the pillar, there is a composition of large boulders, each engraved with the name of a Hungarian region  from which Jews were deported and murdered during the Holocaust. A metal plaque affixed to the pillar. The base also includes symbolic decorative elements: two railway tracks and a wheel. The monument bears Hebrew and Hungarian inscriptions honoring the community's memory. The community names are emphasized through the use of a larger font size.

Translation: And these we mourn…

On the ground, in Hebrew:

יד זכרון ליהודי הונגריה שנספו בשואה

Translation: Memorial to the Jews of Hungary who perished in the Holocaust.

On the metal plaque, in Hebrew and Hungarian:

800,000 יהודים חיו בהונגריה

לפני השואה. 600,000 מהם הושמדו

ע"י הרוצחים הנאצים וגרורתיהם

לזיכרם הוקם יד זיכרון זה

ע"י התאחדות עולי הונגריה בישראל תשמ"ז

 

 Translation: 800,000 Jews lived in Hungary before the Holocaust / 600,000 of them were annihilated by the Nazi murderers and their collaborators / This memorial was erected in their memory by the Association of Hungarian Immigrants in Israel, 1987 (5747)
