The Jewish Ghetto and the Old Synagogue of Česká Lípa
Description
This monument, situated in a public park, is made of a dark granite sculpture at the side of a square, that is triangular in shape. A relief of a distorted Magen David seems to flow out of the monument, and the words "Man must not submit to violence" are inscribed next to the relief in Czech.
Nearby is a small granite plaque with a narrative inscription about the ghetto and synagogue this memorial commemorates.

Translation: Here behind the city walls was located the Jewish ghetto since the Middle Ages. // Pogroms broke out repeatedly. // In 1744, the ghetto was plundered and 30 Jews were killed. // In 1864, a new synagogue in Historicism style was built on the site of the old synagogue // it was burnt by Nazis in November 1938 during Kristallnacht.
