Jewish communities perished in the Holocaust

Description

The high retaining wall of large white Jerusalem limestone blocks consists of four sections. Each section has five niches filled with green tiles with the names of the communities and private people commemorated in the Forest of the Martyrs. Only nine niches are filled with tiles, the rest are empty.

One niche displays the symbols of B'nai B'rith and the Jewish National Fund - Germany and is dedicated to Samuel (Sally) Bein. It contains white marble plaques with photographs and a short text in Hebrew, English, and German, written by Ronny Dotan and Tatjana Ruge.

Inscriptions

The plaques are mostly inscribed in Hebrew, with occasional English. French, Russian, Latvian, and Hungarian, depending on the origins of the donors.

Commissioned by

Jewish National Fund with funding from survivors' organizations, other organizations, and private people.
