Description

The following description was prepared by William Gross:

In the last quarter of the 19th century, according to the number of Yahrzeit plaques that were printed, the honoring of a parent's death date was of major significance. This page is a hand-drawn and painted testimonial from a son, Isak, to his father, Leon, three years after his father's passing. It is done in the form of a trompe l'oeil sheet. Rectangles are presented with images or words that apparently represent important parts of the life of the deceased. The father died in 1868.
