Italian Jewry had a particular fondness both for composition of Hebrew poems and the printing of such texts in honor of or commeration of many different events in Jewish life. This example is a very nicely printed prayer published to honor the opening by the Jewish community of a new shelter for the poor Jews in Mantua. It was printed in Verona. Perhaps a Hebrew press no longer existed in Mantua at this period.
