Description

The following description was prepared by William Gross:

While most spice containers were crafted in the form of a tower, another family of containers, of which this example is a member, was produced in floral forms.  This particularly delicate multi-floral form originates from the Galicia/Ukraine area. It is from this area in Eastern Europe that most floral shaped spice containers originate. These forms are dated primarily to the 19th and the 20th centuries. In some ways it is most appropriate that the spice container should be in a floral form as the spices themselves that were used are vegetal.
