The manuscript is quite well preserved, even if its beginning is damaged (the sheet is torn, the decoration is faded, and the text in the first column is damaged by humidity). The scroll was restored and mechanically cleaned in November 2007; however - at the owner's request - not all wax stains have been removed.

The Book of Esther in Hebrew

Codicology

The scroll is formed of 5 membranes with 17 columns of the text with 22 lines, except for col. 15 with 11 lines divided into two parts.

The number of columns of the text per sheet: nos. 1-3 - 4, no. 4 - 2, no. 5 - 3. 

The text is inscribed in the Hebrew square Sephardi-Italian script, in black ink, on the flesh side of the bright parchment membranes.

The letters ח (Es. 1:6) and ת (Es. 9:29) are enlarged and bolded. Other enlarged and diminished letters are included in col. 15.

The ruling - made with a hardpoint - is slightly visible.

The membranes in the scroll are stitched.

The scroll is in the possession of Mr. Uriel Macías. Since 2017 the manuscript is on long-term loan to the Museu d’Història dels Jueus (Patronat Call de Girona) in Girona.
