Sacred and Ritual Objects  Torah shield

The silver Torah shield is rectangular and terminates with a semi circular arch. It consists of a plate. The plate is decorated simmetricaly with a central exis. The center depicts a rectangular dedicatory plaque written in four lines and in square linear letters, reads: "ז"נ הר"ר )הרב רבי( דוד##בהר"ר )בן הרב רבי( אברהם ##שנת תקס"ח##לפ"ק )לפרט קטן(" "This is the donation of Rabbi R. David son of Rabbi R. Abraham, the year (5)568 (1808)" The plaque is mounted over a vase with flowers and Surmounted by intertwined bands and foliate scrolls. An eagle stands on top of it and picking in a fruit.   The central plaque is flanked by two lions rampant with tail elevated, standing on two decorative horns with scrolls at their sides, and supporting the interwined bands and scrolls. The frame is decorated with a trifid leaf form. Two loop are attached to the back of the plate.
