Who is Commemorated?
The Jews of Rokytne, Poland (Rokytne, Ukraine), and the surrounding communities in the Volhynia region who perished in the Holocaust.

Description:
The monument is located in the Southeastern Alley of the cemetery, along with dozens of other Holocaust memorials built by Landsmannschaft organizations, survivors, and relatives. The monument consists of a light-colored stone slab standing on a stone base. To its right, a smaller upright stone slab is positioned on the base. In front of the monument, three metal columns are connected by an iron chain. The monument bears Hebrew inscriptions honoring the community’s memory. The community name is emphasized through the use of a larger font size. One of the inscriptions indicates that the monument contains the ashes of the Jews who perished in the Holocaust.

On the main slab, in Hebrew:

יד לקהילה קדושה
רוקטינה
והסביבה (ווהלין)
הי"ד

לזכרון ימי ההרג
י"ג–י"ד אלול תש"ב 5702
[August 24–25, 1942]

Translation:
A memorial to the holy community/Rokytne/and the surrounding area (Volhynia)/May God avenge their blood/ In memory of the days of slaughter/13–14 Elul 5702 [August 24–25, 1942].

On the inner side of the small slab, in Hebrew:

ואלו ישובי הסביבה:
אוטסקי אוסניצק בורוכיי
בילוביז בליזוב ברזוב גליננה
דרוזדין אכט וויטקוביץ
זאלאוויע טופיק סחוב סנובידוביץ
סטריקו קיסוריץ קרפילובקה

Translation:
And these are the surrounding settlements:/Otski, Osnitsk, Borokhiy,/Bilobizh, Blizov, Brozov, Hlynyna,/
Druzdyn, Akht, Vytkovyts,/Zalavye, Tufik, Skhov, Snovidovych,/Stryko, Kysoryts, Karpylivka.

On the outer side of the small slab, in Hebrew:

הוקם ע"י
שרידי קהילת רוקטינה
והסביבה בישראל
והתפוצות תשל"ט

Translation:
Erected by/the survivors of the Rokytne community/and its surroundings in Israel/and the Diaspora/5739 [1979].

On the base, in Hebrew:

פה הוטמן אפר הקדושים
שהובא מקבר האחים
בבית הקברות ברוקטינה

Translation:
Here lie the ashes of the martyrs/brought from the mass grave/in the cemetery of Rokytne.
