The Jews of Łomazy, Poland, and Rossosz Podlaski, Poland, who perished in the Holocaust.

Description:

The monument is located in the Southeastern Alley of the cemetery, along with dozens of other Holocaust memorials built by Landsmannschaft organizations, survivors, and relatives. The monument consists of a stone slab with a slanted top and a similarly sloped left side. It stands on a stone base and is surrounded by four short stone pillars connected by a metal chain. The monument bears Hebrew and Yiddish inscriptions honoring the community's memory. The community name is emphasized through the use of a larger font size. The inscriptions indicate that the monument contains the ashes of the Jews who perished in the Holocaust and a scroll listing the names of the Jewish community's victims.

שנספו בשואה
זכרם לא ימוש מלבנו לעד

Translation:

In memory of the martyrs of Łomazy and Rossosz Podlaski, Poland/who perished in the Holocaust/their memory will never fade from our hearts forever.

On the base of the monument, in Hebrew:


וירא כי אין איש
ותשתומם כי אין מפגיע
ותושע לו זרוע
וילבש בגדי נקם
(ישעיהו נ"ט:ט"ז-י"ז)

Translation:

He saw that there was no man/and was astonished that there was no intercessor/so His own arm brought salvation for Him/and He put on garments of vengeance (Isaiah 59:16–17).

On the front of the base, in Hebrew:


יד ושם לקורבנות הטבח ע"י הנאצים
ועוזריהם שנערך בקהילת לומזי ו' אלול 1942

Translation:

A memorial for the victims of the massacre/carried out by the Nazis and their collaborators/in the community of Łomazy/6 Elul  1942.
