Who is Commemorated?

The Jews of Melnytsia Podilska, Poland (Melnytsia Podilska, Ukraine), and surrounding communities who perished in the Holocaust.

Description:

The monument is located in the Southeastern Alley of the cemetery, along with dozens of other Holocaust memorials built by Landsmannschaft organizations, survivors, and relatives. The monument consists of a long and tall slab made of light-colored stone. The lower part of the slab features a black plaque resembling a structure, while the upper part appears broken at an angle. It stands on a stone base, on which a small, flat stone plaque is placed. The monument is surrounded by four low stone pillars connected by a metal chain. On its right side, there is a small metal door, and on its left side, there is a compartment for memorial candles. The inscriptions indicate that the monument contains the ashes of the Jews who perished in the Holocaust and that the monument holds scrolls listing the names of the Jewish community's victims.
