Who is Commemorated?

The Jews of Białobrzegi, Poland who perished in the Holocaust.

Description:

The monument is located in the Southeastern Alley of the cemetery, along with dozens of other Holocaust memorials built by Landsmannschaft organizations, survivors, and relatives. The monument has a stone frame shaped like a trapezoid, with dark horizontal lines across it enclosing a central plaque inscribed in Hebrew.  There is a separate plaque at the base. Two short stone pillars with a metal chain stand in front. The monument bears Hebrew inscriptions honoring the community's memory. The community name is emphasized through the use of a larger font size. One of the inscriptions indicates that the monument contains the ashes of the Jews, who perished in the Holocaust.

On the top of the monument, in Hebrew:

Translation: Białobrzegi.

On the plaque, in Hebrew: 

לזכר קדושי

קהילת בילובזשגי

ע"י רדום והסביבה

שנספו בשואה

בידי הגרמנים

הנאצים ועוזריהם

הי"ד

במחנות

ההשמדה

ובמשרפות

טרבלינקה

ושאר המקומות

Translation: In memory of the martyrs / of the Białobrzegi community / near Radom and the surrounding area / who perished in the Holocaust / at the hands of the Germans, / the Nazis, and their collaborators / May God avenge their blood / in the extermination camps / and the crematoria / of Treblinka / and other places. / O land, do not cover their blood [Job 16:18].

On the small plaque: 

פה טמון

אפר קדושינו

Translation: Here lie/the ashes of our martyrs.
