The Jews of Żółkiewka, Poland, who perished in the Holocaust.

Description:
The monument is located in the Western Alley of the cemetery, along with dozens of other Holocaust memorials built by Landsmannschaft organizations, survivors, and relatives. The monument is a tone slab, set on a stone base. In font, three short stone columns are connected with a metal chain. 
The monument bears Hebrew inscriptions honoring the community's memory. The community name is emphasized through the use of a larger font size. Inscriptions indicate that the monument contains the ashes of the community's victims, who perished in the Holocaust.

לזכר קדושי

זילקבקה

מחוז לובלין והסביבה

שנספו ברובם במחנות ההשמדה

בשואה תרצ"ט -תש"ה

1939-1945

הי"ד

יום הזכרון כ"א חשון 

Translation: In memory of the martyrs of / Żółkiewka / Lublin District and its surroundings / most of whom perished in extermination camps / during the Holocaust 5699–5705/ 1939–1945 / May God avenge their blood (HY"D)/ Memorial Day: 21 Cheshvan.

 

 

On the small stone slab, in Hebrew:

פה נטמן אפר קדושינו

שנספו בשואה

רובם במחנה השמדה

סוביבר

 Translation: Here lie / the ashes of our holy ones / who perished in the Holocaust / most of them in the Sobibor extermination camp.

Commissioned by: Association of Jews from Żółkiewka, (Landsmanschaft, Irgun Yotsei ha-makom).
