Jewish printed books Seder ha-Ushpezin, Jerusalem, circa 1935
The following description was prepared by William Gross:
The invitation to one of the Patriarchal figures from the early texts of the Tanach was one of the practices in Jewish ritual and was called Ushpezin. This example is a colorful ushpezin from Eretz Israel, probably from the period of the 1930s, featuring the unusual illustration of the Leviathan at the lower edge of the sheet. The symbol of the Leviathan appears on three Ushpezin pages in the Gross Family Collection.
