Who is Commemorated?

The Jews of Wasiliszki, Poland (today Vasilishki, Belarus), Zoludek, Poland (today Žaludok (Zheludok), Belarus), and Szczuczyn, Poland (today Ščučyn (Shchuchin), Belarus), who perished in the Holocaust.

Description:

The monument is located in the Western Alley of the cemetery, along with dozens of other Holocaust memorials built by Landsmannschaft organizations, survivors, and relatives. 

The monument has a stone slab with a curved top, inscribed in Hebrew. It stands on a stepped base with a smaller horizontal slab, also inscribed. Attached to it is a small stone cube with a metal door, containing scrolls of victims' names. Four stone pillars connected by a metal chain surround the monument. The front right pillar holds the ashes of the martyrs, as indicated by the Hebrew inscription.

והסביבה

בחייהם ובמותם לא נפרדו

הוכחדו כ"ב כ"ג אייר תש"ב

Translation: In memory of the holy communities / Vasilishki/ Zhaludok / Shchuchyn  / and the surrounding areas /In their lives and in their deaths, they were not separated [ 2 Samuel 1:23]  / Exterminated on 22nd and 23rd Iyar 5702.

 On the lying slab, in Hebrew:
