Who is Commemorated?

The Jews of Rădăuți, Romania, who perished in the Holocaust.

Description:
The memorial is located in the Western Alley of the cemetery, along with dozens of other Holocaust memorials built by Landsmannschaft organizations, survivors, and relatives.

The memorial is an architectural structure. It consists of a stone frame with an arch in its center and two stone walls standing inside the frame at an angle to each other and forming a kind of a gate. Black plaques inscribed with the names of victims are attached to the walls.

At the top of the arch, there is a carved emblem resembling a flame, accompanied by Hebrew inscriptions on both sides. At the bottom of the monument, on the left side, there is an image of the community's synagogue engraved on a black marble plaque (probably made by Mordechai Goldovsky). On the right side, there is a metal door that contains the ashes of the martyrs and a Hebrew inscription next to it.  In front of the monument, there are four small memorial candle holders placed on top of short stone pillars with Hebrew inscriptions. A metal chain connects the pillars.

A small stone plaque attached to the left side of "the gate" informs in Hebrew that the memorial was erected by the families of the victims.
