Who is Commemorated?

The Jews of Briceva, Bessarabia, Romania (today Moldova), who perished in the Holocaust.

Description:

The memorial is located in the Western Alley of the cemetery in Holon, along with dozens of other Holocaust memorials built by Landsmannschaft organizations.

The memorial is a tall, light-colored slab, standing vertically, sided by low stone walls, and set on a stepped base. The structure is surrounded by four pillars. According to the inscriptions, the right pillar at the front of the memorial contains a scroll with the names of Briceva Jews killed in the Holocaust. The left pillar at the front contains the ashes of the killed Jews. Next to the left pillar holding the ashes, there is a bowl inscribed in Hebrew with the name "Briceva". In front of the upright slab, there are holders for memorial candles.

The metal plaques attached to the low stone walls bear the names of the killed Briceva Jews in Hebrew, while one plaque is inscribed in Spanish. In the bottom of every plaque, there is a name (or names) of people, who ordered the plaque and commemorated the killed members of their families. The plaques were attached not simultaneously, they differ in color and fonts.
