  Jewish cemetery in Sosnytsia, Ukraine

© ESJF European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative, Photographer: ESJF European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative, 2020

According to ESJF European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative, the exact period of the cemetery’s establishment is unknown. The oldest tombstone dates from the early 20th century. It first appears on a Russian map from the second half of the 19th century and, later, on another from 1939. There is a low metal fence on the cemetery's front and southern sides. The cemetery's older section is severely overgrown with trees and bushes. Many of the tombstones have been damaged by the dense vegetation. The newer section is clear and well-maintained. The impression of a ditch is visible on the north and west sides. It appears the cemetery used to be larger. There are about 60 gravestones.

Date of the oldest tombstone: 1910

Date of the latest tombstone: 2006

To reach the cemetery, start at the Sosnytsya bus station, proceed west down Chernihivska Street. Take the first right and continue north for 200 metres. The cemetery can be found on the left side of the road.
