Jewish Funerary Art Site of the Jewish cemetery in Sarny, Ukraine
According to ESJF European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative, the exact period of the cemetery’s establishment is unknown. As it appears on Russian and Polish maps of the region from 1910 and 1941, respectively, it can be inferred the cemetery already existed in the early 20th century. The majority of the cemetery was demolished during the Soviet era. According to locals, 10 years ago there were still tombstones on the site, but today no visible traces of the cemetery or its boundaries remain. There are some fragments resembling matzevot.
The cemetery site is located in the woods in the southeast of the village. Starting in front of 46, Zamlynetska Street, take the dirt road along the field until the woods. Continue down the wooded road until you reach the cemetery ditch.
