Jewish printed books GFC Samuel Ha-Levi Zuckerman Paper Esther Scroll, Jerusalem ca. 1910
The complete text of the Book of Esther in Hebrew with vocalization is printed on paper sheets that are scrolled like a parchment scroll. The title together with the place of issuing (Jerusalem) and the name of the printing press (Samuel Ha-Levi Zuckerman) are framed in a frame with decorative corners. The only illustration appearing in this scroll is placed at its end, below the liturgical poem for Purim. This is a small cityscape showing the Western Wall and the Temple Mount.
According to William Gross, "Zuckerman was an active printer and there are over 80 examples of his work in the Gross Family Collection".
