Inger, Reb Yainkil and his pupil Lemech talking in the Lashewitz "academy" (yeshiva). Illustration for "Cabbalists" by I.L.Peretz

© Center for Jewish Art, Photographer: Rajner, Mirjam, 05.1990
The picture represents Reb Yainkil and his pupil Lemech while talking in the yeshiva. There is a big volume on the long table in the central part of the foreground. Reb Yainkil is an old, thin Jew, with a long, pointed beard and old, extinguished eye, the left of the table. His pupil, sitting to the right, is a young man, thin, tall and pale, with black, curling ear-locks, dark, glowing eyes, heavily-ringed, dry lips, quivering throat. They both have garments open at the breast, with out shirts. the left hand of a pupil on the volume. In the backround there are two candles and open book on the table and the window behind the Reb's back.
