  Great Synagogue in Ternivka, Ukraine

© , Photographer: Unknown,

According to a memoir, the Great Synagogue was high, about 20 m, and there was a "wonderful" Torah ark of three tiers. "An artist, who studied in the Academy of Art in Odessa, decorated the eastern wall with oil paint. Among the pictures there were a lion, a deer, an eagle and a tiger, accompanied by the Talmudic saying "Be strong as a leopard, swift as the eagle, fleet as the gazelle etc." See A. Gad, "Ha-ayarah Ternovka," He-avar 17 (1970): 238.

The original text of the memoir:

No depiction of the synagogue is known.
