  Torah shield donated to the Israelite Institute for the Deaf and Dumb, Budapest

The tas is made of silver and consists of a plate and a crest. The plate is in the shape of a cartouche. It is decorated with two rampant lions looking forwards. They support a cartouche and inside are the five and five Tables of the Covenant. On the higher section is a flower garland. The frame for the calendar tablet is rectangular and is set in the lower part of the plate. In the bottom of the plate is a cartouche encircled by C-scrolls and foliate pattern. The medaillion bears a dedicatory inscription. The plate is framed by rocailles which bear lattice pattern. A crest in the shape of a crown is attached to the plate. The crest is decorated by floral and geometric pattern and bears a dedicatory inscription. The plate is hung by a cotton lace which is inserted through three rings attached to the back of the plate. On the cartouche the dedicatory inscription is engraved in linear letters, and reads: " Adomanyozta## Schuller Miksa es Neje## Szul Kurtzweil Hermina## 5658" "This is donated by## Schuller Miksa and his wife## Borned Kurtzweil Hermina## 5658 (1898)" On the crown the dedicatory inscription is engraved in linear letters, and reads, from the right:## " A ## Pesti izraelita## and it continues on the left: "siketnema intezetnek" " For the israelian pest% deaf-mute istitute"
