A text page, framed on three sides, by an upper stick from which two stripes are hanged. Above the stick, in the center, there is a medallion. The medallion shows Ruth wearing a robe, head cover and a shawl on her hips, holding a stick in her right hand. In the background are dunes and a walled city with two palm trees. A horn of plenty is depicted on both sides of the medallion with wheat spikes sprouting from it. Aside each horn a smaller medallion is depicted. On the left medallion - a harp with Hebrew inscription in ancient letters. On the right one - a cluster of grapes surrounded by a Hebrew ancient letters.

The opening page. The same framed decoration as described in oc 1053.1 with the following title, written in Hebrew block letters: "מגילת רות ציר זאב רבן בצלאל-ירושלים הוצאת "שולמית" ירושלים" "The Book of Ruth illustrated by Zeev Raban Bezalel-Jerusalem" "Shulamit" Publisher Jerusalem" The publisher's mark (see Ma. 1051.2.1) is between the fifth and the sixth lines.

First illusration. The picture illustrates part of Ruth. 1:1. which is quoted the top of the frame in Hebrew block letters: "וילך איש מבית לחם יהודה לגור בשדי מואב" "And a certain man of Beth-lehem-judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab" The picture represents Naomi riding a donkey, led by Elimelech. Elimelech is wearing a gray robe and a belt, with a brown coat over and a white head cover, while holding a stick in his left hand. Naomi is sitting on the donkey while turning her legs to the left. She is wearing a green robe, sandals and a gray-reddish head cover. The donkey is loaded with packages,a blanket and a jug. They seem to be on the way. A city, probably Bethlehem they have left, is seen in the far background. Behind them is a hill with a bare tree and birds. A deer is lying (dead?) on the hill and a dog is standing beside him. Birds are flying in the sky. Down the hill a shepherd and a child are walking in a stone-marked path. A gowned skeleton is sitting at the frame bottom, holding the tails of two yellow green snakes. They are climbing along the sides of the frame. The left snake is turning leftwards, to a fish carried by an eagle; the right snake is turning rightwards, to a kid carried by an eagle. The dogs are barking towards the snakes. The frame background is purple with spider's web on it, coming from behind the skeleton.

Second illustration. The picture illustrates part of the Story of Ruth. 1:16. It depicts Naomi in a gray gown, and a blue head cover, leaning on Ruth's shoulder. Naomi is holding a stick in her right hand and a package in the left one. Ruth, wearing a blue robe with a red shawl on her hips and a green shawl on her head, is carrying a big package on her head, supported by her right hand. She is holding her old mother-in-law with her left hand. They are on the way from Moab to Bethlehem. A city with 2 palm trees is at the far background. A figure is walking behind them. They are standing in a green field with flowers, at the foreground. 3 birds are flying in the pink sky. Above the picture a quotation from the Story of Ruth 1:16 is written in red, block Hebrew letters on a green background. It says: "For whither thou goest I will go and where thou lodges I will lodge". "באשר תלכי אלך ובאשר תליני אלין" On each side of the picture a column of symbols in silver is depicted on a red background: flowers, wheat, harp, pomegranate, etc. At the frame buttom a figure is standing with a deer, behind a tree. A peacock is standing on a branch of the tree on the left. On each side of the figure 2 interweaving deer are lying on a hill. Aside each hill is a tree.

Third illustration, illustrates part of Ruth 1:19, which is quoted above the picture. The picture is surrounded by spikes and has a decorated frame on its sides and margins (see 1051.5.1). The central picture represents old Naomi in a gray robe, holding a stick in her right hand and a package in the left one, supported by Ruth. Ruth, wearing a green robe with a red shawl on her hips, is carrying a big orange package on her head supported by her left hand. They are barefooted, walking in a paved path at Beth-Lehem marketplace. The city inhabitants are gathered around Naomi and Ruth, beside the goods and looking at them. At the background are the city houses. Part of the Ruth 1:19 is written at the upper part of the frame in Hebrew red, block letters on a pink background: "ויהי כבאנה לבית לחם ותהם כל העיר עליהן" "And it came to pass when they came to Beth-Lehem, that all the city was moved about them". The frame picture depicts, at the bottom two peacocks, standing below the branches of an orange plant. The blue peacock on the left is lowering his head in front of the pink one on the right. The orange plant is sprouting along the side frame, reaching the verse at the top with flowering, leafed branches.

Fourth illustration. The picture illustrates the book of Ruth 2:5. It represents Ruth kneeling, picking spikes at the foreground. Ruth, wearing a green robe, is holding the spikes with her left arm and cutting others with the right one. Behind her, black-bearded Boaz is seated on his donkey , wearing a gray-orange robe and a green head cover, while talking to his servant. Boaz gestures with wonder: "who is this girl?" The black-bearded servant, standing beside Boaz with a dog is seen from the back, wearing a green robe and a kaffia. Reapers are seen at the background, reaping in the fields. The city of Beth-Lehem is seen at the far background. The text is written in Hebrew block, blue letters on a green background, below the illustration. "ויאמר בועז לנערו הניצב על הקוצרים למי הנערה הזאת" "Then said Boaz unto his servant that was over the reapers, whose damsel is this?" Below the verse a brown prey bird is depicted on the left and a green peacock on the right on a vegetal background. the illustration is framed by birds and spikes intermittently at the top and the sides of the picture.

5th illustration. Barefoot Ruth is standing in in an arched frame in the open air. She is wearing a blue dress and a white head cover and holding a golden colored sheaf on her head. Her right hand is on her hip. The city of Beth-Lehem is seen at the far background. Stone fenced terraces and a field are closer to Ruth but shortened disproportionately to her. The picture frame is composed of two schematic palm trees, surrounded by fruits and flower The picture frame is composed of two ornamental palm trees, surrounded by fruits and flowers. A deer is lying the middle bottom frame. The whole frame has a red background.

Sixth illustration. Boaz is depicted in a barn, scared when he observes Ruth behind a hay stack. Boaz, wearing a white robe, is seated on the ground, leaning against a hay stick. His face and gestures are expressing astonishment. A low wooden table is standing at his right, with jugs, a plate and two apples. In front of him is the hay stack which behind Ruth is hidden, lying down with a white cafiya and a blue robe. Above them there is a wooden beam, upon which a basket and a saddle are hanged. The barn is open on its left side, where the city of Beth-Lehem is seen. The blue picture frame is composed of green-silver stars on the top and the sides, and the text below the picture, in block orange letters on green background. The text quotes part of Ruth 3:8: "ויהי בחצי הלילה ויחרד האיש וילפת" "And it came to pass at midnight that the man was afraid, and turned himself". Below the text three brown tents, with shining candles are depicted on the background of blue sky and green-silver stars.

Seventh illustration. Boaz is depicted sitting in the gate of the city with eight notables of the town, while the kinsman, wearing a green-brown robe, is passing before them. Boaz, wearing a yellow robe, is sitting on the paved road. The kinsman is turning towards the gate, where Boaz is seated. Two donkeys are seen beside the gate. Opposite the gate, tow women, one in a blue dress and the other in a green one, are sitting in a porch, looking at them. At the background are the city houses, another gate and a camel. At the foreground a vaulted building depicted, with a kid at the entrance. The picture is framed by yellow barley on a blue background above and a green decoration at the sides. The upper corners depicts the priestly benediction gesture. Below the picture the text is written in block, red Hebrew letters on a pink background. It quotes part of the Story of Ruth 4:1: "ובעז עלה השער וישב שם והנה הגואל עבר" "Then went Boaz up to the gate and set him down there; And behold the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by". Below the illustration 2 writers are seated in the side-arches. At the arched center a woman is turning a jug towards a lamp, that a man is lightening. The yellow arches are set upon a blue background. The right writer is wearing a purple robe, the left one is wearing an orange robe, the woman is dressed in green and the man is brown-green robed.

Eighth illustration. The picture represents the kinsman in a brown gown, above a red robe and a brown head cover, holding Boaz's shoe in his right hand. Boaz, wearing a blue robe with a head cover is seated on a stool with a bare foot. The notables of the town, wearing robes and head covers are gathered around him( two seen from the back). A man on his camel is seen at the background with the city houses, beyond the gate. The picture has a decorative frame at its top and sides. Below the picture the text is written in Hebrew block red, letters on a yellow background. It is a quotation from the Book of Ruth 4:8: "ויאמר הגאל לבעז קנה-לך וישלף נעלו" "Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe". Below two animals are turning in opposite directions, with their heads turned to each other, revealing tongue. They are standing on a blue background.

9th illustration. The picture represents Ruth lying down covered with a blanket at the foreground, wearing a white head cover and dress, while leaning on a pillow. She is looking at Naomi, who is sitting beside her unfurling the baby. The baby's cradle is in front of Naomi, at the center. At the background, women, gathered to celebrate the birth, are sitting on the ground. The frame - its upper part has 5 arches. Under the arches are (right to left): a scythe, a barley, a crown, a vine and a harp. The sides are vegetally decorated and the upper corners depict 3 interwoven fish with a Hamsa below. The text is written below the picture in block, purple Hebrew letters on a blue background. It quotes Ruth 4:16: "ותקח נעמי את הילד ותשתהו בחיקה ותהי לו לאומנת" "And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it". At the central lower frame a woman is nursing a child. On her right, two men are drinking and on her left a boy is dancing to the music played on a lute by a man. A vegetal decorated column is separating the scenes.
