The Aramaic inscription, enclosed in a tabula ansata, surmounts the nave panel of inhabited scrolls. Two small triangles fill the corner spaces formed by the "ears" of the tabula ansata forming a rectangular composition. The inscription (according to Yeivin) reads as follows: 1."]ד[כרין לטב כל קהלה 2.]די[ עבדו הדן פספה 3.]וכן[ דאוש]ו[ן ותמה יהודה 4.דיהבו תג תרי דינרין" 1."[Remembe]red for good be the whole congregation 2.[who ha]ve contributed this mosaic 3.[and furtherm]ore Daisin and Thoma and Judah 4.who have donated (the) sum (of) two denarii" A slightly different interpretation is given by Naveh
