The Torah shield is rectangular with a semicircular arch at the top. It consists only of a plate. A seven-branched menorah with all lights kindled is depicted in the center of the shield. Its branches are formed by a recurring leaf pattern and the shaft is composed of foliate scrolls. Two rampant regardant lions which extend their tongues, flank the menorah. The Tables of the Covenant, inscribed with the opening words of the Ten Commandments, are located above the menorah. Above the Tablets is a pair of hands in a gesture of priestly blessing, surmounted by a crown. An inscription in square filled letters which surmounts the crown reads: קדש )לה'(, "Dedicated (to the Lord)". Two flying regardant eagles flank the crown. The inner wing of each one joins with the inscription to form a concave arch over the crown. Two columns with twining vines flank the entire composition, and a vase surmounts the Corinthian capital of each column. A curtain decorated with a foliate motif and hung with six tassels serves as a backdrop. It falls from the base of the crown and is attached to the outer wing of each bird. Tassels also hang from the sides of the Tablets and the upper corners of the shield. A band with a pattern of alternating circles and rectangles frames the shield.
