Opening decoration (sheet no. 1): The panel at the beginning of the scroll contains several illustrations; some of them are closely related to those depicted in the Amsterdam prototype, although they are not identical. In the upper register, in the center, there is a royal couple seated on the canopied throne. On the right, the beheading of Vashti is depicted (the episode is not mentioned in the text) and on the left, Mordecai at the palace gate who does not bow to Haman (Es. 3:2) is depicted. The middle register consists of three rectangular frames. In the central, the benedictions recited before the Megillah reading are inscribed. On the right, the king seated on the throne and a man before him can be seen - possibly the moment when Haman receives the king's ring (Es. 3:10). Whereas on the left, two messengers with sticks in their hands are shown; most likely they are delivering Haman's decree (Es. 3:13). The lowest part of decoration contains four narrative scenes; from right to left: Hatakh is bringing clothes for Mordecai (4:4), Haman leads Mordecai through Shushan (6:11), the gallows with 11 hanged bodies of Haman and his sons (Es. 9:25), and two people in Purim costumes.  Above and below the panel, there are decorations of dense acanthus leaves and flowers.

The scenes shown in the lower margin are difficult to recognize. They can be the feast of the king (Es. 1:3-8) - below frame 1 (sheet no. 2) and the scene of Esther and maidens who are brought to the palace (Es. 2:8) below frame 2 (sheet no. 2).
