The hanging back-walled Hanukah lamp is made of brass and consists of a row of oil containers, back and sides walls, a Shamash and a hanger. A row of eight rectangular spouted oil containers is attached to the back and side walls. The openwork back wall is composed of two units: a rectangular lower unit composed of a row of six horseshoe arches. It is surmounted by an upper unit composed of a triangle of foliate design. The triangle is flanked by two scrolls, each topped by a bird, facing each other, which are engraved with diagonal lines. The Shamash is a rectangular spouted oil container, attached to the upper central part of the back wall. A round hanger in the center of the upper unit is surmounted by a Lily motif. The sides walls are composed of a horsehoe arch surmounted by a flat bird. :MED : Metal:MH : 235mm (back); 145mm (sides):MDE : 59mm:MW : 210mm (back); 70mm (sides):MAT : Brass##Structure: cast##Decoration: cast, engraved##Bonding: Oil containers, back wall, walls and Shamash: attached with ears fastened by pins, Lower and upper unit of the backwall: fastened by rivets.:BIB : See also J-M, Isr.
