Fol. 214v:
The page opening the fifth chapter of the SeMaK includes a part-page painted an architectural panel set on the upper part of the page, executed in the first stage of decoration.
The panel is framed by yellow borders decorated on top with crockets and two birds perched on the outer finials, containing within it an initial word panel for the word “to slaughter” (לשחוט) .
The initial word is written in burnished gold display letters outlined in red and set on a blue ground decorated with green scrolls within a double trefoil arch panel. The initial word panel is surrounded by two winged hybrids combating each other and two winged dragons. Both hybrids are half-dragon half-human, the one on the right holds a sword and a small round shield, while the one on the left is shooting with a bow and arrow. Both dragons have a leafy tail, which encloses a unicorn on the right and a rabbit on the left, and their dragon-heads are intertwined.
