The panel representing the zodiac wheel with Helios and the Seasons is situated at the centre of the nave, between the panels of the sanctuary implements to the south and the sacrifice of Isaac to the north. The subject is depicted in two concentric circles within a rectangular frame. The inner circle depicts Helios in a chariot drawn by four horses (quadriga) stars and a crescent moon. The twelve signs of the zodiac are enclosed in segments of the outer circle. Each sign is identified by a Hebrew inscription. They are arranged counterclockwise facing the centre. A guilloche band surrounds the two concentric circles and some of the segments; others are framed by bands of various geometric motifs. The four seasons appear in the spandrels of the rectangular panel, represented as winged female busts facing the centre, each identified by a Hebrew inscription and special attributes.
