The picture represents a scene of the peasants' rest at a stack. The yellow stack is shown in the right part of the composition. Two peasants are sitting at its bottom on the foreground with their backs to each other and with their heads turned towards the spectator. On the stack there are two other peasants. They lie in the same pose: on one side with the hand layed under the head. To the left there is a woman in a red kerchief standing on the stack. To the left of the stack two blue cows are eating the hay and to the left of them there is a small figure of a shepherd.
