The spice container is composed of a receptacle, an apex and a stand. The receptacle is egg shaped. It is decorated with an inverted pattern of alternating geometric and foliate bands divided by a central band composed of a similar geometric pattern. The apex consists of four radiating "S" scrolls connected in the center. Their outermost edge bears a small loop. The stand is the inverted form of the apex.

There are two hallmarks located on the rim of the receptacle
1. The hallmark consists of the cypher 84. It is a quality hallmark.
2. The hallmark depicts the cyrillic initials "AG" (AG). It is framed by a rectangular. It is an artists hallmark of Alexander Fedorovich Golovin, who was active in Moscow from 1860'2 until 1895.
